Case Study - Switzerland
"Niche Service in the Swiss Market"
Benefits to our Customers
The success of the service has been such that a sixth departure has been introduced on a Saturday and the Swiss express shuttle operation is now the most profitable activity of the company.
As well as manufacturers the service is used by most of the forwarding industry in the Midlands and further afield as it is the only six day a week express shuttle service of this type. The ability of the company to offer transit insurance as part of the total package to the customer has also been a major selling point and results from successfully completing the onerous process of registration with the Financial Services Authority.
As an example of the service specification being achieved the Swiss watch producer, Swatch, uses the service daily. Orders from their UK outlets are collected at 1600hrs each afternoon from their Basle depot. The goods arrive in Birmingham at 1300hrs the following day and are transferred by special van to the Parcelforce sorting depot in Coventry. This company delivers the watches to the retail outlets by 1000hrs the following morning.
Another daily user of the export shuttle from the UK is S R Technics, Hounslow who supply aircraft breakdown spares for Boeing jets. Items too large to be air freighted are consigned by them on this service.
