As a freight forwarding solutions provider we successfully developed a third pary logistics solution for a German electronics company. In the spring of 2005, International Forwarding was approached by a large electrical products company based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Their own warehouse operation was only able to supply goods to UK customers within a 48 hour period from time of the order being placed.

In today's competitive market with internet-based ordering, customers expect to be able to have next day deliveries of products, and in many cases if they cannot gain that speed of service, they will usually look elsewhere.

The Company met with us and explained their requirements.

Pick & Pack Warehouse Operations

Within four weeks, International Forwarding had put in place a pick and pack warehouse operation dedicated to the German company which met their needs to exacting standards. Due to the nature of the product, it was imperative that goods ordered one day could be at the customer?s premises the next morning. We liaised with the information technology dept. in Germany, and were able to install a real-time computer-based package so that they were able to look at stock levels, orders and other information and keep completely up to date on their product in our warehouse.

By using bar code scanners, stock levels are updated as each item is packed, which allows our German customer to know exactly the amount of product to send over to us for stock replenishment. We have now been running the operation ever since, and pick up to fifty separate consignments per day from over 300 different stock locations, and deliver them using a wide range of services, from small van to articulated truck depending on the size of order and we also ship goods through our association with the Palletways network.
